Our chickens have arrived safely, along with the cube. A few non-essential bits were missing and the delivery guy promised to get them in the post to us. I will be calling Omlet anyway.
The Pecking Order has started, there is clearly the top-dog, the Red Coloured Miss Pepperpot (called Red-Leader for the moment) in the foreground center. At the bottom of the pecking order, the young light fawn coloured chicken (called Fawny for the moment) at the back of the group.
Red-Leader has a negative IQ, as demonstrated by her reluctance to follow the rest of the gang into the Eglu for bedtime. This resulted in a Commando style hand-and-knees pitch-black raid at 22.15 to grab Red-Leader, and stick her in the Eglu. I got covered in chicken poop, and a bit battered. Tip for next time, hold the soft bits of the chicken, the feet can hurt.
Then I had to evict the other 2 from roosting on the nesting box opening, then the other two from roosting in the nesting box. I might fashion a piece or wood or something to block it off.
Apologies to neighbours for the commotion …
