The Egg Skelter

Monday 11th August 2008 by Steve Mayne

Spread the love

We’ve ordered an Egg Skelter from, and this may come as a shock to some of you, www.egg-skelter.co.uk

It is quite expensive at £18.75 but that does include delivery.

Now you may ask … what is the point of an Egg Skelter? No it’s not to give just-laid Eggs the scare of their life … it is to keep eggs in date order so that the oldest ones are eaten first.

As you can see from the picture above, by the amazing use of gravity no batteries or difficult to maintain mechanisms are required. Simply add the newest eggs from the top and take the oldest eggs from the bottom.

The Egg Skelter holds up to 24 hens’ eggs.

Have just taken delivery of my new red egg skelter – it is a beautiful red and looks fun as well as allowing me to know which egg is the freshest – I love it!!!!

The obvious question, I think, if you take out 3 at once, or if you put one in at the top and let it "slide" down, is the angle gradual enough that the eggs won't break against each other or the stop at the bottom?
