Inflation

Tuesday 28th October 2008 by Steve Mayne

Hopefully with the cost of Crude Oil coming down, then the cost of Feed will also be reduced.

The girls get through 1 kg per day. This is 5p per day on Feed. As for incidentals … they can vary considerably from the odd ten pound here, and several hundred quid there. I would never make a successful entrepreneur.

Two of the families that buy our spare eggs have said we should put prices up. That is very kind of them – for now we won’t raise prices as,

  • Things are tough enough financially for everyone as it is
  • We’re not here to make a profit – just enough to pay for feed and cover a few incidentals
  • We’d like as many people as possible to enjoy proper eggs

Reading through the various forums the vast majority charge £1.50 or so per half-dozen. Some do charge £1 or less per half-dozen (are they mad?!) and a few charge £1.60 or more. I think we’ve got it right.
