Not really a chicken post as such … but let me have my say.
Now here’s a really odd thing – we bought an outside/all weather clock for the garden in the Summer of 2008, popped it on the side of the house – and thought no more about it. The clock lights up in a moderately tasteful way at night and the LEDs that light the dial recharge via a small solar panel.
The clock was to help us moderate our time in the garden – it’s very easy to let the hours go by when in the garden and miss the sprogs meal and nap times, and of course the chooks complained as they don’t have their own wristwatches so they always thought it was lunchtime.
Now we had a problem in early part of December in that the clock would stop whenever the temperate would go below 2 degrees centigrade – replacing the battery with a fresh one didn’t solve the problem.
Yet oddly in this -6 degrees centigrade weather the problem didn’t reoccur. The time has been kept perfectly.
I really don’t understand it. On a plus I don’t have to take it back to the shop. But it’s one of those things that going to really bug me!
Despite the low -6 degrees temperate, today, and yesterday the chooks gave their maximum quota of 8 eggs. Well done girls!
