All Your Base Are Belong To Us #1

Thursday 2nd April 2009 by Steve Mayne

We have a friendly builder, Chris, on the case to build us a 6m x 2m concrete slab at the bottom of the garden. This will allow us to move our chooks off the Patio, and to somewhere more permanent.

We may change to a taller, wider, walk-in-run, still utilising the cube. We’ll take things one step at a time.

Slab is expected to be finished on Saturday – and we’ll be able to use it in a weeks time.

Meanwhile elsewhere in the garden, I’ve planted grass seed where the chooks’ run used to be placed and this has just started to spout. We’ve got some raised beds made from Wickes’ Decking (thank you Ian!) that we have some lettuce and onions in so far . Oh, and some potatoes growing in some old Layer’s Pellets bag.

We won’t be self-sufficient by any means – but we should have access to some tasty veg. So in theory we could have a dinner with Salad, Egg, Chips, but of course no Chicken!
