My guilty secret is that I have been stuffing my chickens. No, not the sort of stuffing you buy from the supermarket – and certainly not anything deviant.
We’ve been stuffing the chickens full of vegetables/mixed corn and dandelions for a few days too many and unfortunately their eggs got smaller than usual – and egg output diminished. Though I must say what we did get tasted extra special.
They are back on pellets only for a few days now – and all seems to be back to normal.
The small handful of Poultry Grit I’ve introduced into their feed has helped thicken up the egg shells – a good few wacks is needed to break each one open. Good stuff.
