Well the chooks have been on Strike as they’ve been concentrating on doing much more important things like growing their feathers back after their Winter Molt. Well a few of them haven’t bothered but that’s their look out – they’ll be chilly when is snows.
Some days we have no eggs, some days we have five, most days it’s a couple.
We’ve had to buy Eggs from the Supermarket to ensure we have a supply.
We purchased some RSPCA Freedom Food Eggs in Medium Size and I’ve very sorry to say they were a very poor substitute.
The eggs were smaller than our Chickens eggs, the egg had very little taste, the shells were thin, and the yolks weren’t as bright. I was actually embarrassed to eat it – though then I felt bad for the Chicken that had laid the egg I’d just scoffed.
If anything it reaffirmed my position that keeping Chickens is brilliant – despite all the hard work and effort that it can take.
