Jezabel’s feathers have been growing back very nice – she’s been looking like a porcupine with her new short quills.
Unfortunately her friends have also been taking an interest in her new plumage, and coupled with the redness that occurs when the new quills come through they decided to start to tuck in on a handy feast. This resulted in a large number of feathers being snapped off by her peers, and blood dribbling from the broken quills.
We managed to grab Jezabel and rectify the pecking with the application of a Stockholm Tar based bandage, and covering the redness with the application of some antiseptic Gentian Violet. Her new blue paintjob is perhaps not that fetching but is better than the alternative which would be nakedness, or perhaps death.
Normality has been restored, and Jezabel’s remaining feathers are being allowd to grow without further plucking.
We will continue to monitor the situation and ready for the reapplication of the appropriate remedies to stifle and more naughtness.
