There’s a Farm Shop on Hayling that we drive past fairly often, and we thought to pop in to see if there were any well priced alternatives that we could buy in place of our weekly supermarket delivery.
Eggs, well, needless to say they were well priced for free-range eggs, as our chickens are now ‘back in action’ that wasn’t for us.
Potatoes were the obvious choice. A 2.5kg of spuds from the Supermarket is about £1.99. Which is about 80 pence per kg. So we were hoping to get a big, 25kg of spuds from the Farm Shop for around the same cost per kg, maybe a bit less.
The bag of potatoes pictured below that we bought from the farm shop … was just £4.99. That’s effectively 20 pence per kg!
Whilst writing this blog, I thought, I’d better check the internet for the address of the farm, and perhaps post some directions and a map. The job has been made easy for me as the Farm Shop have their own website, Northney Farm complete with details of how to find them.
Ah, I have waffled on. You want to know about the potatoes? Well, for a start, they have mud on them. Wonderful mud. And many have a mosaic outer. Lots of good shaped, large, spuds.
And the taste? Flippin’ fantastic.
If you are local – go and buy some!
