Adventures of the Hot Glue Gun

Sunday 15th January 2012 by Steve Mayne

Well no blog about DIY or fixing things instead of throwing them away would be complete without the inclusion of the Instant Coffee of the DIY world – yes the Hot Glue Gun.

Imagine PVA Glue + Silicone Sealant + General Filler + Blutack + with the speed of sticking of Super Glue in an all-in-one ready to go package … that, my friends is the Hot Glue Gun.

Ours is almost on permanent standby ready to fix toys / appliances / and do odd little DIY jobs around the house.  In the last week or so we’ve fixed the hose back onto our Henry Vacuum cleaner, stuck a safety cleat for the cord for a roller blind onto the wall, and rescued various toys from ending up as landfill.

In all – our Hot Glue Gun has rescued hundreds of pounds of products from being throw away or being sent for professional repair.   There is quite a feeling of accomplishment when a seemingly beyond repair item just needs a couple of daps of hot glue to restore full working order.

Additionally – the Hot Glue Gun is great for arts and crafts – instantly fixing one material to another.

So we’ll follow up with some further posts for high (and low) ticket items as and when the breakages occur.
