Already owning a few Weber BBQ’s, I wanted a decent charcoal grill to take to the beach. Nothing worse than a partially cooked sausage that tastes of firelighters … so if it’s going to be BBQ-ed it needs to be done right.
We selected the Weber Jumbo Joe over the Weber Smokey Joe Original due to the larger grill. The ‘Original’ is probably fine to feed a few hungry mouths – but we have five in this family.
With restrictions on where BBQ’s can be used, this’ll be a beach or go to a ‘Friends House’ BBQ.
This review is about the putting together – and based on what I’ve seen, this looks to be a cracker.
Small enough to fit into the boot of a Hatchback or Saloon car, but beefy enough to cook anything you want to throw at it no matter what the weather.
The only tool you need – apart from what is supplied in the box, is a wide-flat head screwdriver. The instructions are straightforward and it only takes a few minutes to assemble the unit (mind out for the protection oil on the lower rack – don’t get it on the carpet).
The only niggle I have is that enamel is missing on part of the base, and bare steel is visible. I have emailed Weber to ask them what to do to resolve, this looks to be a manufacturing fault. Update : Weber emailed back within hours to advise they’d replace the part – no questions asked! AWESOME!
This unit was supplied by Homeleigh Garden Centre who kept me informed every step the way with the order.
The Jumbo Joe is also available from Amazon.co.uk.
