Sainsburys Waterlooville – Building work moving quickly

Wednesday 23rd July 2014 by Amanda Mayne

Two massive cranes could be seen over Waterlooville’s skyline yesterday – both on the new Sainsburys’ site. More of the steel structure has been erected and the concrete lift shafts are being installed (to the left of the picture below).

On the other side of the steel, the cladding has started to go on. Here we can get a flavour of what the finished store will finally look like.

Meanwhile the road works are continuing. This road will be changing beyond all recognition. The picture below is taken looking up towards the new Sainsbury’s store and the retail park.

The traffic is still pretty heavy – I expect that this area is a bit of a nightmare in the rush hour!

Are these roadworks affecting you? It’ll be interesting to see the difference this gigantic store makes to the traffic, or perhaps the improved roads will ease the pressure.
