New Cowplain Park – Re-building Work Underway

Tuesday 26th August 2014 by Amanda Mayne

If you live in Cowplain and have small children, you may or may not have used the park that was occupied the top corner of Cowplain Recreation ground (opposite the Cowplain Activity Centre). To be fair, it wasn’t in the best of repair. The park did have a good slide, ancient see-saw (bent) and a couple of swings. Not a great park to to keep the children amused!

You may be pleased to know that this is all changing.

Currently in progress is Phase 1 of a new play park. The first phase is to be completed by late September – basically this means clearing the site. The old park has gone and railings are up to keep people out.

We used the park a few weeks before all this was announced and we noticed at the time that it looked like areas had been drawn out on the ground, so we’re not surprised. We popped up to the recreation ground to take a few pictures last week with our small boys, and they were pleased at this new development – well if you would be if you were under 8!

Phase 2 of the building works where the play equipment will be installed will hopefully be complete by Christmas. The equipment is currently out to tender – a public meeting will be held to display the schemes. Based on the meeting, a choice will be made and installation can be begin.

It’s a bit of a shame that it’ll be finished in the middle of winter, but hopefully it’ll be another great park that we can visit next year!

This would be very welcomed. I live in weacock and childten go to hartplain schools. Lived in Waterlooville all my life. And parks here are appalling. They need to improve jubilee park and make it into something like denmead park.
I cant picture where this one in cowplain is. Can you tell me where it is exactly thankyou

A much loved play area, I was often tasked with taking my twin brother and sister there. So nice they are putting another one in.

I have heard so much about Denmead park. It would be great if it was like that! Hopefully next summer we can have a couple of evenings at Cowplain Rec park with my Brownies!

Peel Park in Clanfield is well worth a visit. Although there are no public toilets onsite, Clanfield Parish Council pay a four-figure sum each year to The Rising Sun pub for their toilets to be available for park users. Peel Park has a zip wire, swings, climbing frame, skate park. For those that don’t drive, a bus stop is nearby on the number 37.

Love that park. But toilets at rising sun pub should be better advertised.

I cannot wait for the new park to open, its about time and I will be able to walk instead of taking the car. We need a really good decent park here in the area where younger children including those with physical needs can use. Lets hope that the older children/youths dont wreck it like they do at Westbrook park. Roll on the winter
