The chips are down for Cowplain Chip Shop

Wednesday 3rd September 2014 by Steve Mayne

As we reported in April this year a new takeaway, “Cowplain Chip Shop”, opened up on the site of the defunct, “Three Jun” Chinese takeaway.

Although we didn’t sample food from this local chippy, those we have spoken to were all positive about their experiences.

Speaking to an employee of a nearby local business, they said the takeaway had been closed for quite a few weeks.

Perhaps, the existing competition from two other popular chip shops also situated within the Cowplain area (Banks and Lobster Pot), proved there just wasn’t a gap in the market for another chippy?

Did you try the food from here?

I went there regularly and it was lovely. Nice sized portions good prices and easy parking. Not keen on Lobster Pot’s soggy chips and Banks you have to wait ages for. The hunt commences…

I live in Cowplain and I wasn’t aware of this chip shop so I would say poor advertising because if I’d known about it I would have tried it

Me neither. I would have given it a go as The Lobster Pot is a real pain to park by.

I had a good look inside before taking this photograph. There is lots of uncollected mail on the doormat, inside looks clean and well presented – the chairs are stacked neatly and leaflets/menus are carefully laid out on the table. There are no notices or any instructions on any of the windows. It is a mystery…

Wonderful fish and chip shop and very reasonably priced. I was very disappointed to hear this has closed.now it’s back to Banks at Cowplain which are not a patch on the Hazleton Way one.
No doubt they should have Advertised it more as many people were not aware of its opening.

If we get Fish & Chips – or any takeaway – has to go in a coolbox (without icepack of course!) firstly to keep the lovely nosh hot and secondly to avoid stinking out my car. All this food talk is making me hungry …

According to the newsagent Along The same stretch, it has shut down as they weren’t making enough money :-( such a shame as I heard they had to scrap the money together to pay for a new gas mains costing £3000 to be put in so they could open! But word a codon to him someone else might be taking it over!?!?

It’d be great if it were to re-open Sarah but I suspect it has cost someone a small fortune already. Certainly they’d need to sort out getting word out to locals rather than relying on the “build it and they’ll come” approach.

I am the landlord for the fish and chip shop in hazleton way. The current operator found it to difficult to run while traveling from him home Southampton twice a day.

I have had alot of interest in the shop so expect it to re open very soon.
