Hot-on-the-heels of our last article about the new pedestrian ramp: At the other end of the Waterlooville’s newest supermarket building works, the first phase of the new road lay-out has opened. There have been roadworks for months, and finally it’s starting to take shape; the road has been widened and a larger roundabout has been constructed on the site of the old Sprintprint building in anticipation to handle a greater influx of cars. The new Sainsburys is due to open December 3rd.
A further roundabout will also be installed at a later date, further along Aston Road, for access to the supermarket car park.
Work has now started in earnest on the new petrol station which will adjoin the Sainsbury’s supermarket.
There are still temporary traffic lights in place connecting Hambledon Road and Aston Road and although there is still a long way to go before the area is free from building work it’s good to see progress being made.
