Shoppers: Why do you pay to park on a Sunday in Waterlooville?

Sunday 30th November 2014 by Steve Mayne

Havant Borough Council’s car parks are free on a Sunday.

So why are shoppers paying to park at this privately controlled car park?

Is it because:

  • Shoppers have money money than sense?
  • Or they don’t know the Havant Borough Council car parks are free on a Sunday?

and causing queues in the Matalan car park!! VERY dangerous at the roundabout earlier today. Hope Sainsburys get it sorted along there – it will be horrendous christmas week

I agree that entrance off the Maurepas Way roundabout is dreadful, and the other day when I came past there was a tractor with scaffold poles across the road, completely blocking that roadway. Heaven help any car that turned in. Will it still be an entrance once Sainsbury’s open? It was only last Sunday I realised HBC car parks were free but I had gone in the one behind Quicks.

I didn’t know the others were free Sunday’s. Saying that, I’ve never parked at the Curzon rooms car park

I’ve never parked at the Curzon Rooms car park; too far up the opposite end of Waterlooville to where I need to shop.

Getting confused because I thought the one at the curzon rooms was privately owned?

It is private so can assume that people can’t be bothered to park in the one by Iceland or behind Quicks

So more money than sense then Teresa? I prefer to have that pound in my pocket! Though we did walk up today to pick up a few bits so saved on petrol too.

Because people obviously don’t read the signs in car parks.

Hi Janine – the HBC car parks are free on Sundays, the one in the photos costs money. And boy do they police that!

To add – the “Waitrose” car park is also free on a Sunday … double-doh to all those drivers in the photo!

I saw someone buying a ticket in the “Iceland” car park on a Sunday a few weeks ago. When I informed them it was free on Sunday, they gave me a filthy look and walked off. Common sense is not a given anymore
