Well I never, a charity shop, the first in that row of shops. I’m sick and tired of all these empty shops turning into charity shops. All us Waterlooville residents are going to end up shopping else where that’s those that don’t already do so.

  2. Trevor Wintle says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 13:39

and another charity shop and another and another….

  3. Jenny Martin says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 13:39

It’s better than empty shop making it look like a ghost town. AND it benefits people.

  4. Alice Lawrie says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 13:39

great! I have got a heap of stuff that needs to go to a charity shop When is is due to open?

  5. Bridget Boniface says

Not another charity shop, Waterlooville centre is dying.

  6. Lynne Jackson says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 13:39

We really don’t need more charity shops in Waterlooville , we should be looking at bringing people to the town not driving away the people of the town

  7. Teresa Jane Rowe says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 14:39

Got nothing against charity shops but does waterlooville really need another one???

Hi Alice, The Rowans Hospice, which is a local charity, offer a pick-up service. They came and took a ton of kids toys ( shush, don’t tell my children ) in their van earlier in the week, telephone 023 9225 0001. Can’t say when this new one will be open, probably will be a few months time. And of course you should donate to whichever charity you feel is important to you – I can say Rowans were polite and prompt with their return phone calls and pick-up service.

  10. Claire Otton says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 14:39

Waterlooville definitely does not need another charity shop. Before long there will be no business in Waterlooville and therefore no people ! What a shame.

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 14:40

  12. Mark Thomas says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 14:40

  13. Sean McCaffrey says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 14:39

    I think this is great.
I was becoming a little disheartened by the lack of choice amongst the other charity shops.

  14. Jackie Hughes says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 14:39

Omg another charity shop, some of these charity shops are more expensive than asda!!!

  15. Des White says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 14:39

I’m sure it was the vision of all those soldiers that settled here 200 years ago to fill it with charity shops.
We might as well put the road back through the precinct coz there’s nothing worth stopping for!

  16. Simon Gibbins says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 14:40

So what happened to Julian Graves ??????

  19. Bryony Rose de Vries says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 14:40

Glad Julian Graves went under, a side project of the beastly Holland and Barrett who use some underhand tactics with the small companies whose products fill their shelves, such as not paying them, or paying them peanuts. Charity shop….better than an empty shop?

  20. Diana Cross says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 14:40

    not another charity shop?

  21. Mandy Clark-Edwards says

  22. Teresa Jane Rowe says

Feel that there is nothing to go into town for anymore! Used to be able to spend a couple of hours up there quite easily but not anymore! Guess I’m off to Commercial Road tomorrow!

  23. Carol Smith says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 15:40

  25. Cathy Hudson says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 15:40

When any new store is built in Waterlooville, everyone moans that it’s taking business away from existing shops. It seems like residents of Waterlooville never seem to be happy, no matter what shops decide to come to town. No, we probably could do without another charity shop but it’s better than nothing.

  26. Leila Senussi says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 15:40

    😩 That’ll make a change!!

The town should be renamed CHARITYVILLE.Why cant certain people get it through their thick skulls that waterlooville has too many charity shops.

    • Mandy Edwards says

      Friday 30th January 2015 at 18:50

Totally agree Darren, Waterlooville is almost derelict apart from the abundance of “Charity Shops” who charge the earth for their second hand goods

  29. Marilyn Atkins says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 16:40

We have had excellent small independent shops in waterlooville, but they can only succeed if people use them…..which they obviously eaten’ t doing…use it or lose it has never been truer. That particular unit has been empty for a long time. Better to have it buses. They are quite small units so their use is limited.

  30. Marilyn Atkins says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 16:40

    Predictive text is a pain…!!

  31. Dawn Craft says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 16:40

Really another one and think when Costa carphone warehouse and subway move we can have 3 more how about a currys and a smyths toy shop that’s what we need

  32. Jeanette Faulkner says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 16:40

It’s like this in Gosport, all cafes and charity shops. The council’s answer is better used than empty. The government apparently controls/sets business rates so why can’t they allow all those with a turnover of less than 100k have a greatly reduced or negligible rate with a sliding scale above this?

  33. Ann Eames says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 17:39

Like we need anther charity shop in ville , put a primark in town then the people will come

  34. Lucy Coker says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 17:39

between charity shops, cafes and hair salons no wonder waterlooville is going down hill….

  35. Nikki McCarthy says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 18:39

Like we need yet another charity shop!! Really this is ridiculous.

  36. Jo Richards says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 18:39

Let’s have another charity shop! Not enough in Waterlooville!! What a classy new shop to add to the nicer row of shops in town! Not!!!!

  39. Paul Fouch says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 19:40

  40. Kat Critchell says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 19:40

  41. Yvonne Tee says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 20:40

  42. Ben Shires says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 20:40

you think that’s bad, there’s rumour that a costa coffee a subway and a carphone warehouse is going to be built in the car park by matalan, three shops that already exist in waterlooville! Unless the one’s in the precinct are going to be closed down and replaced with charity shops?

  43. Bex Frost says

    Friday 30th January 2015 at 20:40

Haven’t we got enough already?!! Now the big development plans on the old BAE site has been scrapped Waterlooville is now officially ‘the Charity Shop Town!’

  44. Stephen Jackson says

    Saturday 31st January 2015 at 00:39

Re- Ben Shires remark, this is what ive been led to believe as well and closing the ones in the town centre.
Why have the council also turned down the plans for the cinema etc on the BAE site, this town centre is going to be deserted soon , business rates are killing the traders.

  45. About Waterlooville says

    Saturday 31st January 2015 at 08:39

Ben – sadly not a rumour, can Waterlooville support two Costas, two Subways and two Carphone Warehouse? No we don’t think so.

  46. About Waterlooville says

  49. Sarah Lloyd says

    Saturday 31st January 2015 at 11:40

Mmmm I wonder why the Developers withdrew there plans. ……… Probably like the rest of us they can see Waterlooville is turning into a ghost town sorry is!!! its really sad what with all the Thousands of New house gone up, the new and surrounding family ect would of made good use of a cinema, but hey what do we know we only live here!!

  50. Ben Shires says

    Saturday 31st January 2015 at 19:40

It can support three supermarkets though. I didn’t know they turned down the plans for the cinema though Stephen Jackson, that’s another blow for waterlooville. Looks like i’m not gunna regret my decision to move down town. Just feel sorry for my Family and friends still living up here, not much left for them :(

  52. John Royston-Ford says

    Sunday 1st February 2015 at 00:40

Does anybody know if there is a sticker book for charity shops … ie you visit one and you get a sticker to put in the book … if there were to be such a thing you could probably fill the entire thing on one visit to Waterlooville.

  53. About Waterlooville says

    Sunday 1st February 2015 at 09:39

There’s money to be made there John, the I Spy Book of Charity Shops!

  54. John says

    Friday 13th February 2015 at 19:49

Without going in to too much detail, we (my wife and I) wanted to move in to this shop, bringing a new business to Waterlooville, but because we aren’t charity the rates were DOUBLE what this new charity shop is being charged……a real joke, and a shame.
