So we did.
It was a wet Thursday evening and we decided to have fish and chips for our tea for a change. Based on the rave reviews for The Village Chippy we ventured down to Milton Road. The first thing that struck me was there is loads of free parking – always a bonus to park right outside when collecting hot food. On entering the busy chippy, the staff were polite, welcoming and friendly.
I ordered three large cod with three large chips, this came to £21 exactly.
The chips tasted fantastic and the fish was fresh and delicious.
I must also add that the portions were absolutely huge and the mountain of chips was truly awesome; our three boys shared a single portion … and we both failed miserably to finish our single portions.
Nothing went to waste though; our chickens had the leftovers and they loved them.
The Village Chippy, Cowplain doesn’t have a website, and they aren’t on any social media. This does appear to be a common trend, a simple website with opening hours and contact details goes a long way with those that want to try something new, or are out on the road (aka ‘Mondeo Man’) and need to pick up a bite to eat.
The Village Chippy is definitely on our ‘visit again’ list.
We’ve just noticed that we’ve reviewed three Fish & Chip Shops in Cowplain in a row, our next ‘Chippy Review’ will be from another town. Does anyone have any more suggestions for great fish and chip shops to try?
