Overtaken on Forest Road Denmead

Tuesday 14th April 2015 by Amanda Mayne

On our way back from Creech Wood in Denmead today with my three children, this happened on Forest Road.

Fortunately nobody was crossing the road ahead of me.

Despite the the oncoming truck as they overtake the second car, it probably won’t make this driver think about their behaviour.

Having had my car written off last month by an inconsiderate driver, there is no excuse for this type of driving.

Wow! That is incredible, they’re going to kill themselves or some poor person one day. Such a shame that the number plate is unclear or you could report them and hand in the video. On that sort of road, pedestrianised, there is no excuse for those speeds or overtaking riskily.

Uploading the video causes YouTube compresses the video, the actual footage is clearer. We have the reg plate though won’t post it here.

Yep, the road is a 30 … we were doing the speed limit … clearly this driver felt they had special dispensation to go as fast as they wanted.

So many stupid idiots about on the roads, rules mean nothing to them.

Selfish idiot, glad you are ok

  5. About Waterlooville says

We see it all the time on Tempest Avenue – it too is a 30mph and drivers regularly exceed 50mph.

  6. Louise Goodenough says

    Tuesday 14th April 2015 at 18:40

There are never any police around to spot idiots like this either!

  7. Emma McCartney says

    Tuesday 14th April 2015 at 18:40

This happens to me all the time along there, I’m usually doing the speed limit but it’s not fast enough for some silly people!

  8. Louise Goodenough says

    Tuesday 14th April 2015 at 18:40

And the trouble is that it’s more likely to be someone else who gets injured or loses their life because of it than them!

  9. Kath Hooker says

Once a driver actually went round me and the island at the same time by the Furzeley junction! Call it sixth sense but on another occasion I had a car race so far up my tail pipe they didn’t see me indicating right, I used caution and was right to, as they overtook. If I hadn’t been paying attention to my mirrors I dread to imagine what would have happened.

Get this every day driving to and from work on A3- yes black transit van at around 4.40, driving with no consideration for anyone else- you know who you are!

Maybe it was a real emergency i.e love one dying, don’t judge until you know the whole story

Well done for getting the moron on camera.

  13. Kirsten Child says

Adam- still no excuse. Better to get there than not at all. I was an oncology nurse for 10 years- that excuse does not wash

Have you shown the police the video, they have the authority to warn the driver.

  17. Mark Walden says

    Tuesday 14th April 2015 at 19:39

Question ?? Is it legal to record and post on social networks ? I’m a sensible driver and of the opinion poor driving is as bad as speed and the pair combined is madness … free classroom driving classes for all every 5 years good or bad drivers no exceptions .

I have dealings with the police due to other matters, though I doubt if they’d be able to do anything constructive with the footage. Therefore I’ve posted it here so that folks can lobby their Denmead Parish / District councillors should they so wish to ask for more speedchecks on this road. To answer Mark’s question, yes it is legal to film in public places and do what you like with the footage :)

i have been travelling down forest road now for at least twenty years every week going to work in titchfield.i retired in 2006,i am now classed as an old fogiey i now take my time travelling at the regular speed limit on all roads and never over 45 mph even outside the the speed limit areas.i have seen enough road accidents for my likings, whilst driving along forest road a couple of weeks ago i did see a police speed camera standing by the brick wall at the entrance to the industrial site i have also seen an anpr van along the road just past the harvest home pub so the police have been in attendance in the area recently,

I drive this road a million times a day and fortunately never had this problem! A few weeks ago early in the morning when I was taking kids to school a police camera van was there catching all the speeding drivers however I’ve not seen one since! Not sure 30 is the correct speed for that road mind, I would never overtake on that road! It’s hard enough when a car parks their to get by with all the traffic!
