Waterlooville’s Cannon Yarn Bombed!

Wednesday 17th June 2015 by Steve Mayne

Waterlooville’s authentic Battle of Waterloo era Cannon has been Yarn Bombed!!!

What is Yarn Bombing? Yarn Bombing is graffiti knitting street art which uses colourful displays of knitted or crocheted wool instead of chalk or aerosols.

Next time you are in Wellington Way, take a good look, it is fantastic (and of course is part of the Waterlooville 200 celebrations).

Well done to the Yarn Bomber who wishes to remain anonymous, great job!

Wow how very strange … Saw this “yarn bombing” in April in Tenerife in a square where all the trees had been ” yarn bombed” but I never knew what it meant …and everybody I asked just shrugged their shoulders … Not sure whether they didn’t know what it was all about … Or couldn’t understand me lol !! Thank you waterlooville now I know ☺☺

Is there anyone here that hasn’t sat on that cannon? Or if you have … own up! I sat on it as a child, and for nostalgia’s sake got back on a few years ago :) As was pointed out to me yesterday, this may well be the only defining structure that survives. That is, unless the folks who it is on loan from ask for it back … or the landlord of Wellington Way decides to redevelop the land and turn it into flats …
