Swiss Cottage Update: 16th Oct 2015

Friday 16th October 2015 by Steve Mayne

Today at lunchtime I popped up to Waterlooville to follow up on my promise to photograph the progress of the demolition of Swiss Cottage.

Compared to yesterday, and the day before, there isn’t much left of this building.

I had a chat quick chat with one of the workmen who advised the rest of Swiss Cottage may be taken down today.

Such a shame. Old people have to live somewhere though I guess.

I guess if no one stood up to maintain this building privately what choice did they have. we be complaining if the local authorities were wasting more tax payers money to archive such a building. Nursery’s and other such local child care facilities have had funding cut or revoked and I certainly wouldn’t be impressed if such facilities were closed in order to keep a deteriorating relic upright.

I walked past tonight and really angers me that this has been allowed to happen. Sad times. No building history for generations to come to look at. Just rows and rows of flats x

Would’ve made a great town museum.

Waterlooville is being destroyed. Too full of nail bars and charity shops. There is no where to shop, or do a proper shop.

I can’t believe they are doing this, this is part of waterlooville history, I agree the elderly have to live some where but there’s loads of flats going up all over waterlooville it makes me sad they are spoiling our little town, it is nothing charity shops and cafes.
