Waterlooville’s Crown Post Office to Close

Tuesday 19th January 2016 by Steve Mayne

The Post Office announced today that Waterlooville’s Crown Post Office, located in Wellington Way, is to close.

Waterlooville’s Post Office was already under the Sword of Damocles due to the landlord’s plan to demolish Wellington Way.

waterlooville post office close

The services currently provided by Waterlooville’s Post Office will be put out to tender, and it is is likely that another business or shop will come forward to take over the services currently provided. A potential candidate to take over the Waterlooville Post Office is Waterlooville’s WHSmith who already run a number of Post Office’s within their existing shops, although space is limited within their Waterlooville store.

Our thoughts go out to those currently employed at Waterlooville’s Post Office whose jobs are at risk.

Many thanks to Jeannette for getting in touch regarding the closure.

All that f**king money they spent on sh*tty modern sculptures and paving. Should have bull dozed the whole town centre and start again.

That’s not good. There are enough empty units in the main part of the town, Shame they can’t move.

They have done this same thing in a town near me. (Used to live in Waterlooville). It kind of works and you get used to it quickly but at the same time it is a real shame for the town.

I just don’t get it they are building thousands of houses and yet the town is being allowed to go down hill, there’s not that many shops, apart from charity shops I moved to this town some 33years ago and it was a lovely little town it could be again but alas I feel it won’t be.

Hi Tina, if a franchise takes it on then perhaps there will be a small branch within an existing shop?

Waterlooville is dying and with greedy landlords and a local council who don’t care it won’t be long until its just residential lettings

  22. Barbara George says

    Tuesday 19th January 2016 at 19:56

WH Smith is claustrophobic enough without trying to squash in the PO. Put one of the empty units to good use and stop opening the same old rubbish. Rejuvenate the centre of Waterlooville

  23. Jones Tina says

    Tuesday 19th January 2016 at 20:56

No wait it can’t go what about the elderly And others meant to get there money absolute disgrace

Is it the death knell ? For that precinct

  25. About Waterlooville says

    Tuesday 19th January 2016 at 20:56

Well Sheila that precinct will close no matter what as the landlord is not allowing shops to renew their leases. Hence it was doomed already, but we had hoped that the Crown Post Office would relocate rather than become a franchise.

The Boulevard is owned by different landlord, I understand the owner recently changed so who knows what that will bring?

About Waterlooville Thank you. We moved to Waterlooville from Southsea about 50 years ago and the things that was promised obviously never came

Sorry to hear that Sheila. I work from home, so still trying to work out why I don’t sell up and work from an exotic beach instead. I’ll let you know if I find the answer.
