Many of you have been in contact with us regarding the status of Waterlooville’s Fabric Warehouse. You have been asking about items that you had on order.I am sorry to inform you that Fabric Warehouse is entering liquidation and unless you paid for the goods via Credit Card, getting any money back is going to be tricky.
Before I go further, the former staff at Fabric Warehouse are not being paid redundancy by their employers due to the liquidation, they will be claiming redundancy and their owed pay via the Government’s National Insurance Fund, these payments will take time to process. Our thoughts are with you.

A notice on the Waterlooville store has the following information, you will use this information register as a creditor of Calderia Retail Limited if you have a paid order in progress with the company. In the event that the liquidator is able to recover funds, you might get a part or full refund. If you have paid via Credit Card please contact your Credit Card company who will refund you in full.

We looked into the lease on the Waterlooville Fabric Warehouse store, not only did we find how much the building costs, we also found out that the information was prepared last summer …
So about the lease, there is a total of 937.13 square meters of floor space, the yearly lease is £65,000 and on top of that rates cost £36,235.50 per year, so that gives a total of £101,235.50 before any other outgoings such as staff costs, utilities, stock or fittings.
The lease information was prepared by Mason Owen Property Consultants, and the lease information pack is marked, “CONFIDENTIAL – STAFF UNAWARE“, “SUBJECT TO VACANT POSSESSION“, and the lease documentation is dated July 2015.
Perhaps we are putting two and two together and getting five … you can make your own conclusions, the lease information PDF can be downloaded by clicking here.
Such sad news and really feel for the people working there x
I only went in here once and the service was terrible. Staff were rude and unfriendly. Was a few years ago though and no one deserves to lose their job with no redundancy.
And no pay. We did always try to be friendly , sometimes it’s very hard.
We were in there the weekend before they closed , looking at curtain material. Such a shock when I went back and found it closed. I feel for the staff!
Oh dear, very sad news indeedy. A lot of people are saying it wasn’t in a very viable location. I think it’s due to people being too bone idle to walk up the road!!! I for one will miss it :-(

There was customer parking right out the back, they sold some great item at a very fair rate, but obviously not enough! It was a big shop but who do they expect can make that sort of money to even break even. I’m at a loss why landlords would rather have their shops empty then filled at a lower rate of rent!!!
Bought my net curtains in there, really helpful staff, and friendly. I feel for them.
They didnt have any problems off loading stock intomany vans and vehicles last week though did they!

Beth Cufley- this would explain a lot!! Xx
A shame, yet another empty shop in the precinct. I found the staff helpful and there aren’t many shops like that about
Why such high rent and rates? are they trying to kill the small businesses in Waterlooville? The other precinct is being turned into housing, are the powers that be trying to do the same. We need more shops and less estate agents/charity shops to make it worth coming to. I bought lots from Fabricland over the years and always had good service, I feel for the staff.
Why is that people always have to comment on how terrible the service was and rude staff !! No one ever says what saints we are to put up with some very rude customers we had on a daily basis that treated staff like we were something they stepped in !!! The staff at fabric warehouse always worked hard and tried to do the best for all customers and for the company !!!
Well said Dorothy Allen x

What a shame ,I always looked out for some real fabric bargains from here. All my curtains and my storytelling back drops. It was local and the staff were always helpful to me over many years. I am disappointed, now I will be forced to go , where ???????????????

So there be another coffee shop or charity shop going there then , bye bye town centre

It appears that they have sold off the good stuff. I doubt they will be able get rid of a load of the crap stock. I presume all of the cushions will have gone back to Liverpool to the main business. It’s only Fabric Warehouse – Calderia Retail Ltd. Calderia is all ok and still up and running. B*st*rd. Cushion King still going just us that are in the sh*t.

What a shame ðª
I have just read the original article instead of just the comments. As a former member of staff, unpaid as quoted, I am disgusted at the way Tony Calderia has treated us. There may be remarks about the staff but I would ask you to consider what it must have been like working for a boss like that. I know that in a previous item someone mentioned about the missing “e” from the sign, well that was the public side. Repairs were not carried out. We were not aloud to get the cold water tap in the staff room fixed. We should have had five air con units on the 1st floor , we only had one elderly one. The working conditions were atrocious. Take a look at the accessible ramp at the back of the shop, all pitted and dangerous. We had to carry every piece of stock upstairs. Perhaps there were times when we might not be as helpful as we could have been, do you blame us?
Well I have used this shop and always found very helpful and polite and my freind hazel used to work there and she not rude
As shop owners in the town ourselves the rates and rent are so high. For our small independent business its tough ! The town is slowly dwindling and many shops forced to close. !

I have a shop in Cosham and the rates are just as high. Not only do you pay rates according to your properties rateable value but your unmetered water is also calculated using RV … Crippling for small businesses . The government needs to start supporting small businesses
Here here hanli brain , I have a small business in town too , I have my hands tied .
