The new owner of The Wellington Pub Waterlooville wants to demolish the pub to make way for flats and shops.
Plans have been submitted by Pure Town Planning Limited on behalf of the owner, M Forfar Limited, for the demolition of this pub.
Under delegated powers, Havant Borough Council’s planning department have approved demolition pending further information regarding the site restoration.
If you wish to object to the potential loss of community facility use of this land you can submit a comment to Havant Borough Council’s planning department.
Thank god. It’s a sh*thole
Hmm, been there in on from or another since 1867. Is another estate agent or nail bar an improvement?
Very true!
Same with every town centre tho, would rather see a Camden style covered market with some street food, or a bandstand type event area. But that will never happen. Something to bring some life to the place!
Build is haunted to I’ve been told.. a little drummer boy… Maybe he stay and put people of buying
Really!!!!!…….
Well when I was a kid my friends family run the pub and that’s the story we were already told a drummer boy in the basement
ð
What happens to the ghost,,,,, where will he go… or will he be in the new build?
Hate seeing all these old buildings demolished
Been a venue here prior to 1867…
So sad. So much history
Would be a shame to lose yet another piece of historic Waterlooville. Would rather it was converted than demolished
Been a venue here prior to 1867…
Havant council don’t give a damn about Waterlooville and it’s history
I’m writing to the Waterloo councillors to ask them to engage if they aren’t already.
I feel a video coming on….
Look forward to seeing the video :-)
Hahha, did think of you when I saw this! Lol xx go James !!!

Shops? SHOPS? Haven’t we got enough vacant or temporarily-rented shops already?
I know the answer (ie money), but wouldn’t it be good to have some sort of community project for an arts or theatre group based in this building? This town has no sense of community any more. And why on earth aren’t such historic buildings listed?
There’s no reason why it can’t be a successful pub … sigh.
I understand the sentiment, and I’d like to think you’re right. But surely there are lots of reasons why it can’t be successful as a pub – clientele, management, reputation, location, appearance, etc. And clearly it isn’t successful at the moment.
