Since the news regarding the closure of Waterlooville’s Robert Dyas quite a few of our lovely readers have got in touch to ask us to investigate whether Waterlooville’s Waitrose is closing down. In addition there has also been discussion in the comments section regarding the future of this store.
Known as ‘Waterlooville 239’ the Dukes Walk store opened on 28th November in the year 2000 and was one of the original cornerstone stores at this development. This store was originally located where Cowplain’s Lidl is today.
We got in touch with Waitrose HQ on 7th June to query the future of the store It wasn’t until three weeks later and after a number of follow-ups emails from us did Waitrose formally respond. The response did not address our question whether the current store at Dukes Walk would remain. Waitrose said: “We have no plans to leave Waterlooville at this time and are focused on building our trade there.”
The response does give a positive commitment to Waterlooville, which is good news.
