Waterlooville Peter Collins Opticians permanently closed

Tuesday 7th November 2017 by Steve Mayne

We have an update on a story from last month when Peter Collins Opticians temporarily closed due to a lease renewal issue. Unfortunately we have confirmation that the Waterlooville branch of Peter Collins Opticians has closed permanently.

Customers are advised to contact either the Hayling Island branch on 023 9246 7887 or the Portsmouth branch on 023 9261 0710.

Another good shop gone. If people need a Waterlooville optician, I can wholly recommend Large and Large by the bus stops.

Another case of greedy landlords again is it. They also are ruining the high street

I wouldnt call it greedy landlords. My father was going to buy the whole lot of shops from costa all the way down to the library. But he said they are selling the shops for rediculous money. So he took his money else where and built a big housing development up north instead!

Everywhere in Waterlooville is going due to shop leases being too much n greedy landlords would rather shops empty than fair rent prices and see the precinct full up of decent shops not just charity shops!!

  25. Nicola Small says

  27. Kev Stevenson says

What! A shop closes in Waterlooville 😱 Surely not.

    • Matt Carpy Carpenter says

      Tuesday 7th November 2017 at 19:57

It’s not greedy landlords as such wanting more rent. They are after the developing the land the shops sit on and all the time the shops are leased it’s not a viable planing option. So up the rents and make it so no one wants to lease adding weight to a planning application. Has anyone else noticed the empty units opposite Hambledon parade they’ve never been leased and they’ve not even been plastered or 1st fixed, similar thing.

  28. Zoe J Ashman says

    Tuesday 7th November 2017 at 19:57

The landlords of these shops need to sort it out. It’s getting ridiculous

  29. Stacey Jenkin says

    Tuesday 7th November 2017 at 19:57

    Sheila Dyson 😔

  30. Jill Stilwell says

    Tuesday 7th November 2017 at 20:54

They might as well send the bull dozers in now. Asda, Wilko, Waitrose, few banks and Costa might be safe but as the town closes down less and less shoppers will even bother to go.

  31. Elizabeth Richardson says

    Tuesday 7th November 2017 at 21:54

Landlords are too greedy and just want the shops gone to develop 😡

  32. Hayley Boreham says

    Tuesday 7th November 2017 at 21:54

    Sue Ballinger ☹ x x

  33. Tracey Harvey says

    Tuesday 7th November 2017 at 22:54

Are all these closures due to lease issues? Surely the council need to step in? So many are closing 🙄

  34. Sue Ballinger says

    Tuesday 7th November 2017 at 22:54

    Yet another shop gone.

  35. Adam Harvey says

    Tuesday 7th November 2017 at 22:54

Sadly the town I was keen to move to is rapidly becoming a ghost town. What a shame and contrast to the bustling town I knew as a child.

I’ve lived in Waterlooville all my life and I don’t remember even seeing this shop lol
