The Waterlooville Sewing Centre, located in Wellington Way, is closing down. This will be the third shop to leave Wellington Way this year.
This haberdashery shop are offering up to 50% off during their closing down sale.
And it’s only January. Such a shame

Sorry to see another Waterlooville business go, in future you’ll find everything you need at Thistle in Cowplain. The parking charges in the Cowplain car park are very annoying though, not encouraging people to shop up there.
You can park in the Co-op for free, thatâs what I do if there is no room in the lay-by directly outside of Thistle.
Just to let you know the cutting edge fabric shop in Waterlooville also stocks wool, along with Carole @ polyana Leigh park.
Sadly their prices could never reach what online shopping for yarn and sewing accessories sell for with their overheads etc. It’s a lovely shop but I cannot afford to buy wool there when I can buy 3 or 4 skeins for the same price online, especially when I don’t charge for my knitting work. It goes to NICU at local hospitals for premature babies and for friends.
Rowlands Castle knitting shop is the same. Over priced.
They are not overpriced, just selling for what it costs them to do so. Don’t forget that by buying on line you are helping the demise of these very shops. I haven’t been to Waterlooville for a long time, but you will find yarn in Rowlands Castle that you can’t find elsewhere easily.
Um she knits for premature babies for free, she can buy her wool from wherever she wants in my eyes. Such a wonderful gift for premature babies to keep them warm and for the parents who did not expect their bundles of joys to arrive so soon.
Chris Westcott I’m very sad that the shop is closing as I know there are many who rely on shops like this for their knitting/sewing supplies. Personally, I’m disabled and don’t get the luxury of ‘going shopping’ these days. As I am unable to get to the shops I have to rely on two things: 1) Price 2) Easy delivery – so that I don’t put other people out having to go out on my behalf to buy something I cannot see!!
I was a p/t teacher and office worker have worked for many years but since becoming disabled in 2008 I am unable to do all the things that I’ve always done. I took up knitting again in 2016 (I learnt when my Mum taught me when expecting my daughter 26 years ago) as a way to feel productive – using my skills to help others. So for me, it’s all about how much money we cam spare combined with not being to able to go out. That’s all x

Totally agree with you Ruth . l will pop in tomorrow see what they have . thanks for info . x
Let me know x
Hi Ruth . l have been in and to be honest its not worth it . just bits and peices . Wool is not much cheaper.. It closes on the 10th Feb .x
Are they retiring? I used to love to browse in there but I can honestly say I’ve only bought two darning needles in there and they were £4.50. 50p for 6 on Amazon. It’s the way the world is x
Think its competition as the new fabric shop on the roundabout is doing well . do you see new pizza shop opening and another bakery shop. Down by the library . thats 3 in a few yards of each other.
Crazy – sounds like they’re trying to make it work but with the retail park doing so well, it’s a losing battle isn’t it. x
Yes talking of the retail park .the shop that used to be brantano ‘s shoe shop that’s going to be a carpet shop that will be 3 next door to each other. !!!!
James Gurney bet you are gutted
Jan Harrison ð

Una Kirby Hadley
Saw this earlier. Be nothing left soon x
I work for sue ryder and apart from us there is only Holland and barett , veg shop , Stellaâs voice , m&co and Iceland and Iceland are going to cowplain at somepoint ! . Alough it is really sad that everywhere is going or moving realistically those buildings really do need pulling down as most of them are seriously rotten and falling to bits and have been there over 40 years and have not been maintained properly . They keep saying the shops are going but some leases donât run out for another 3 years , itâs so sad to see a vibrant town turn into a ghost town ð
There’s no truth to the rumour that Iceland are moving to Cowplain. I’ve heard this second hand via the SW consultant straight from the store manager’s mouth (my wife goes to Slimming World).
Lidl are staying in Cowplain and also in the new store.
Yeah I did post that a month ago and have heard diffrent since , i actually heard it from Lidl staff in cowplain so I donât know where they ha got there info from

ð¢
Another one down & another one bites the dust ðð
Emily Ewens you beat me to it! LOL x
What a shame that was such a nice shop.
Use This shop a lot ð sad
Iâll be honest, whilst wellington way is emptying the rest of the Waterlooville shopping precinct is really turning around . Thereâs one empty unit in the top end where the butchers used to be, and thatâs amazing and although there are 6 empty units in the boulevard 2 are being fitted out for the wonderful traditional bakery and pizzeria and with Costa and three cooks in there already Iâm hopeful that walk thru could become a nice area for eateries. Itâs perfect for that. There arenât many units empty in the Barclays end of town really, probably 3 and so if you ignore Wellington Way then Waterlooville has less empty units than most working class towns I visit around the UK. Retail is dying generally for various reasons and what was once a very very empty town a year or so ago is looking like itâs regaining some ground. The fabric place, the wedding shop, the noodle bar, the £9.99 hair place, the betting shop, and now the bakers and the pizza place. Not many towns can say theyâve had 6 new shops open in 12 months or less (yes I know the betting shop only moved sites). I know it has its down sides and too many of certain stores but there is some positive stories. The Wellington way area is done. Thatâll never be saved but when it goes hopefully a few of those stores will move to the main drag and help fill the remaining empty units. Thereâs also some positive news on the Wellington Pub development I believe too so all in all Iâm quietly optimistic that the next year will see Waterlooville really turn a corner.
Hear Hear, a voice of sanity!
Very sad this shop is closing.
Glad Teague

Mia Curtis-Mays
I saw!
Let’s get Wellington Way cleared and knocked down. It’s time to wave goodbye to this concrete monstrosity
Sad
Terrible happening alot here too
Unfortunately their items for sale (even with the 50% off) were still ‘priced to keep’, so it’s no wonder they closed down.
Can buy everything much cheaper online these days.
