That’s it then – I’m moving! There is no supermarket as good, selling so much variety – and good stuff too. I’m not happy!!

There are too many cheap food shops , let’s keep at least one nice food shop

I was told over a year ago that Waitrose was looking to get a better deal on it’s lease, if not they would close but I was also told that this was a common “negotiating ploy”, well now we know. Waterlooville is becoming a ghost town while the council spend all their time and efforts trying to boost Havant at the cost to Waterlooville. Empty shops and proposed cheap student type accommodation is not what Waterlooville needs or wants, who knows, perhaps our councillors will manage to tempt Aldi to take over the empty Waitrose shop but I doubt it as it needs a big name to take over a big shop but then like the Zurich building in Portsmouth, it would be great for student/homeless accommodation.

Aldi offer great great and reasonable prices. Aldi is up the top of the list for value. I live five minutes from Waitrose and the store and staff are great but overpriced . £1.80 for Aunt Bessie’s oven chips .In Iceland and Asda £1.00 all day long. poor homeless guy will have to move on as without Waitrose he will go hungry. Too many people come to Waitrose and buy a couple of items just to get free coffee. Very sad and it’s not only poorer families. Middle class customers do this.
I could go on and on.
Hope the site doesn’t stand empty too long.
Havant Council should lower rates and attract more smaller businesses in as well as the likes of food chains. We only haveIceland and Asda within walking distance. Not all of us have cars .
      Hope to see Aldi

Another branch? Too many Cooperative Branches in the area. Not Co-op please. They open long hours 7 days a week. 6am to 11pm.

This store is too large to be open all those hours even if Co-op takes over.

I find it highly unlikely they would go for this site as they concentrate more on convenience these days

I hate the co op store. I can never get what I want, it’s food is boring and basic. I moved from a place that had a large co op store near me, but I preferred to drive an extra 6 miles to a different store!

Very sad to hear this, the staff are second to none, customer service at its very best! I have shopped here since it opened in Waterlooville and before that at the Cowplain store. Such a shame!

This is very sad. The staff here are great. The only reason I venture into Waterlooville most of the time is to shop at Waitrose, think this will be the death of the town. I was hoping they were going to open a reduced package, serve yourself section at the back where the pharmacy used to be.

Another nail in the coffin, way too many empty premises for the place to be economically viable. It will need a really brave soul to start up a new outlet, regardless of the type of product

I cannot believe that the Waterlooville store will soon be closing. It’s a wonderful shop with good quality products and often with special food stuffs you can’t get elsewhere. It has an amazing ethic towards animals. I used to work for a company that managed farms that supplied waitrose. The animals were treated so well, and had special top quality feed with special extra nutrients fed to them. Even when the animals were slaughtered, they were treated kindly so that they were never afraid and the process was totally painless.
The whole shopping experience at the store is pleasant with wide isles and extremely pleasant and helpful staff, who are always considerate to the elderly. As well as all the above, I can collect any John Lewis main store shopping at the Waitrose store. I and many locals will be devastated at the loss of such a loved and highly regarded store. I feel that the powers that be should stop this closure which is such an unwelcome decision. This store is a strong part of the community and if closed down, would go a long way to the sad demise of Waterlooville. Shame to the powers who made such a terrible decision!

Waterlooville is the best Waitrose in the area! Staff always helpful and polite! Shop light and airy and well laid out, good car park facilities!
If you need to close any Waitrose, close Petersfield!

The so called homeless man begging outside Waitrose in Waterlooville has a home in Tennyson Road so is not homeless. Because Waitrose don’t own the car park they can’t move him on. At Christmas I was told he earned over £1.000 Unbelievable. Don’t feel sorry for him. This is begging.
This morning another man decamped outside Bonne Marche. This is when people should be isolating themselves with this virus looming over us. This new beggar sat down opened his cigarettes and started smoking.
Why don’t the police move these people and check their background.?

Do you think you could extend your closing date in waterlooville, at least until this virus is over. People have been very loyal to you and shopped for many years. Could you not show your appreciation back and show a bit of kindness back in these bad times. The grocery shops are one of the only stores to be allowed open so you must be making profits , also helping the people survive through this time. There are a lot of older generation who live in waterlooville and find it hard to travel to other places. Also your store is a little more upmarket and gentler atmosphere for them.
I do agree with many people that the staff are lovely, on the ham counters and on the till so helpful and friendly, they are a credit to you. I always find it a pleasant experience shopping at Waitrose. This shop will be missed greatly, I wish you would change your mind about closing, or least stay open a while longer.

I supose you have not changed your mind about closing the Waitrose in waterlooville. Surely the food shops are the ones making money for the John Lewis group and probably will for a long time yet. It’s the only decent food shop in waterlooville , yes we have a small Mark&spencers and Sainsburys and a few others but not in your league. If you put a new Managerial team in to motivate and give new look to store …like Petersfield wouldn’t it be worth a go. It’s a good store and you have lovely products this is going to be sadly missed by many people. I don’t want this store to go. Waterlooville will change completely when this store goes I am sorry to say.
